Firstly, I just want to say hi, and also thank Victoria for having me on her blog. Thanks, fellow Northern Bird! ;)

Little did I know that when I sent BITE WITH HEIGHT off to a publisher that a few months down the line I would be positively chomping at the bit to write a sequel. I just sent it off and kept my fingers crossed, which is my usual thing when I hit ‘send’ on those kinds of emails.

A few months later, I had a contract, a lush cover and a release date. Even then I didn’t think about writing any more of the story. It wasn’t until I received my author copy and re-read the tale in its finished form that a bubble of an idea started to form in my head. In my opinion, BITE WITH HEIGHT works perfectly well as a standalone story, but the ending is also left as such that it could be continued. I let the idea bubble away in my head and got on with life…

…but then the reviews started coming in. It was the reviews wot did it, guvnor! More than one reviewer commented on how the story could easily be expanded, and how they’d like to read more. There’s no higher compliment! But it wasn’t until I truly saw how much people were enjoying Meg and Grace’s sexy love story that I allowed myself to seriously think about continuing the story. And the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to do it! At the moment, the only thing stopping me is all the other deadlines I have to hit.

Needless to say, I now have pages and pages of notes on book two. I have a title, character names, a story arc and some silly humour already planned in. Even more excitingly, I have my first official research trip planned. I’ll be heading to Paris in a couple of months to take dozens of photos, flesh those ideas out and no doubt end up with lots of new ones – and I can’t wait! So watch this space!

Today’s prompts I’ve used for my flash fiction are Wank Wednesday’s #cloud prompt and the Silver Flash prompts of Dark Chocolate and these three words Church, Phone and Star. I’ve been a busy bunny!

I love watching the clouds float by laying in the soft, fragrant grass with the warmth of the summer sun heating my body. It’s all the better when there is a guy snuggled up beside me, feeding me my favourite chocolate. A dark, crisp bar bejewelled with pieces of sweet and spicy crystalised ginger.

“That one looks like a Church, look there’s the steeple.”

“Oh yeah,” he said, “I can see that. I have bad news, though.”

“What?”

“This is the last piece of chocolate.”

He places a small chunk of sweetly bitter chocolate between my lips and I kiss his fingers as he pulls then away.

“Darn, who ate it all?”

“Maybe it was Pixies?” He replies with a chuckle.

“That’s a possibility. Oh, look, that one looks like one of those old fashioned phones, you know the candlestick ones?”

“There,” I say and prod my finger at the sky, “it’s so obvious.”

“Hmm, that looks significantly suggestive to me.”

“Really?”

“Really,” he replied, “I think it looks like a cock.”
